Withers & Rogers: Katchr Implementation Case Study

Withers & Rogers, one of Europe’s largest dedicated intellectual property law firms, has a legacy spanning over 140 years in the legal industry. With offices strategically located across the UK, Paris, and Munich, the firm serves a diverse and prestigious clientele, including many of the world’s most innovative organisations across Europe, North America, and Asia. As part of their unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality service and continuous value to their clients, Withers & Rogers have partnered with Katchr to enhance firm-wide data driven reporting and performance visibility.

From the outset, initial discussions with Withers & Rogers highlighted the importance of data driven business decisions.  The leadership team identified further opportunities for advanced drill-down capabilities and enhanced access to financial, operational, and client management metrics. These enhancements were deemed important developments for department heads to continue to lead strategic initiatives and make data-driven business decisions that align with the firm’s overall strategy.

“We wanted to increase the accessibility of our data to support our teams with fact-based decision making,” stated Iwan Smith, the Head of Finance from Withers & Rogers. This commitment to transparency underscored the firm’s desire to provide its teams with the tools necessary to make informed decisions based on accurate and comprehensive data.

The integration project also brought new developments for the Katchr team. Withers & Rogers’ primary case management software, Patrix Patricia, and their accounting software, Sage, were both first-time data connections for Katchr. Patrix Patricia, specifically designed for the unique requirements of IP professionals, necessitated an intricate level of bespoke connectivity to address the data complexities inherent in IP law, complexities not typically encountered in practice management systems built for broader practice areas. Additionally, the firm’s operations across multiple currencies necessitated a seamless conversion to GBP for consistent reporting.

Over the past 13 years, Katchr has developed out-of-the-box connections to over 20 leading practice management systems, CRM, and HR platforms. Focusing solely on business intelligence solutions for law firms, Katchr’s team of legal software specialists have helped over 100 law firms leverage more value from their data. This extensive domain experience positioned Katchr to tackle the highly bespoke integration requirements of Patrix Patricia. Despite the unique obstacles at hand, the project yielded significant improvements, resulting in an integrated, multi-system reporting solution with Katchr’s Data Warehouse consolidating data from Patrix Patricia and Sage into a single source of truth.

With the implementation of Katchr, Withers & Rogers gained enhanced visibility of financial, operational, and business development information. The system provided real time information on time recording and utilisation, offering real time insights and transparency into billed costs and sources of business. Furthermore, the seamless conversion of various currencies into GBP ensured uniformity in financial reporting, enhancing accuracy and ease of analysis. Katchr’s intuitive dashboards transformed complex data into readily accessible business metrics, available firm-wide at the touch of a button.

“With enhanced real time reporting capabilities, we are equipped to lead strategic objectives with a clearer, data-driven understanding of operations, financials, and client management,” commented Zoë Bailey, Withers & Rogers’ Chief Strategy & Operations Officer.

Graham Moore, Founder and Managing Director of Katchr, also reflected on the successful partnership, stating, “The implemented solution should now significantly enhance Withers & Rogers’ ability to utilise data more effectively, empowering leaders to make informed decisions that drive strategic objectives. The partnership with Katchr has supported Withers & Rogers’ commitment to delivering exceptional service and value to clients. This marks a significant milestone in their continued Katchr Customer Success journey.”
